We are excited to invite Fung Scholars and their guests to participate in a therapeutic and artistic journey through our FS Pastel Nagomi Art Workshop, hosted by the talented Josy Lai, a distinguished Fung Scholar from the Class of 2010/11.

Meet Your Host:

Ms. Josy Lai

Instructor

Josy Lai was awarded the Fung Scholarship in 2010 and pursued her studies at Carnegie Mellon University. With a lifelong passion for art, she has been practicing Chinese ink wash painting and calligraphy since childhood.

In 2022, Josy became a certified JPHAA Pastel Nagomi Art Advanced Instructor (日本和諧粉彩正指導師) and a Certified Noir Art Instructor (日本黑紙藝術導師). She has taken her knowledge to the community, hosting over 20 workshops for participants aged 5 to 70, driven by her belief that “your normal might be their magic.”

Josy participated in various Fung Scholars volunteering groups, such as charity run, coastal clean-up, and for several years she had been instrumental in initiating Fung Scholars to participant in World Vision Hong Kong’s Famine 30, which supports vulnerable and underserved communities.

Josy has a diverse background in scuba diving, journalism, marketing and music. She is currently an active Master Scuba Diver Trainer and EFR Instructor. She is keen on promoting marine conservation.

Founded in Japan by Mr. Hosoya Norikatsu, Pastel Nagomi Art is a unique form of artistic expression that utilizes sensorial touch through painting with fingers. This process helps participants find harmony and inner peace, allowing individuals to connect with their creativity in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.
