The Fung Scholars Singapore Chapter Pre-Departure Gathering for academic year 2013/14 (semester 1) was successfully held on 20 July 2013 (Saturday) at Singapore Management University Administrative Building. The Gathering was attended by 23 Fung Scholars including both new and existing Fung Scholars from Singapore Management University and National University of Singapore.
One of the key things shared during this meeting was about the history of the Singapore Chapter. The participants got the support of the pioneers, Jamie KO (FS2009-10, SMU and Jeremy POH (FS2010-11, SMU), who shared about their involvement with Fung Scholars’ activities (Past leadership conferences) and their visions of the Singapore Chapter.
It is essential to hold the Pre-Departure Gatherings for the new cohort of Fung scholars before they leave on exchange, which allowed them to meet with fellow Fung Scholars, encouraged them to join Fung Scholars’ activities, and in the future lead the building of the community. Hopefully, we could see a higher retention rate of the Scholars in Singapore chapter activities, and growing strength of the Chapter.
