Last year, the Foundation supported 4 mentees, who aspire to become alpinists and polar explorers, through Asia Youth Alpine Mentors Programme (AYAMP) founded by Wilson Cheung (FS2008/09, HKBU). The mentees were back in Hong Kong from their Alpine Micro Plastics Research Expedition!
Come join the Sharing Session of Asia Youth Alpine Mentees & the Field Trip to listen to the stories about their adventures!
What’s more interesting in this series? You could go on a challenging field trip with these young proficient climbers on 25th February. The field trip will take place at Ma Dai Stream (walking distance: 2.3 km). During the trip, you’ll be exploring a wonderful stream with clear water and scenic waterfalls!

Alden Chan is an energetic and passionate person who enjoys staying in the mountains and nature. During his university study, he got a chance to join the Excursion and Travel Affairs Association, which allows him to organise different outdoor activities and overnight camps for members. It made Alden fall in love with nature and mountains.
After that, he started trekking overseas, such as the ABC trail in Nepal, the Hehuan Mountain in Taiwan, Yubeng in China and the Mount Iõ in Japan. In the future, Alden would like to explore more mountains in the world.
Katie spent much of her childhood on beaches and rocks along the ocean. Attracted to remote places, she went to Wales as an exchange student – an experience that nurtured her love for mountain nature while motivated her curiosity in sustainable tourism.
Life is meant for great adventures as we only live once. Katie is eager to learn about how to be an alpinist and polar expedition guide. She hopes to aspire others to conserve the beauty of the planet through unique experiences in nature.
Oscar Chan considers himself as an avid mountain lover because he likes the versatility of being able to be in the mountains every day. He likes trail running. mountaineering, drone shooting, rock climbing, abseiling…
Since he was little, he has imbued with love of the mountains and learned about the sport. Mountains and nature are therefore a part of him.
